Professional skateboarder Dylan Rieder who appeared with Cara Delevingne in DKNY campaign dies aged 28 after battle with leukaemia

PROFESSIONAL skateboarder and model Dylan Reider has died at the age of 28 following his battle with leukaemia.

The sports star died on Wednesday due to complications.

His manager released a statement which shared on their Facebook page: “Dylan Joseph Rieder, today October 12th, 2016, surrounded by family and friends, Dylan Joseph Rieder passed away due to complications with Leukemia.

"His passion for life, art, music, fashion and skateboarding has always been contagious.

"Dylan will be remembered by all as a loving son, brother and friend."

Reider, who grew up in Westminister, California, US, began skating at age nine and quickly worked his way to become a pro at 18.

He competed in all types of challenges from Street League to the X Games.

But his talents went beyond skateboarding as he ventured into modelling.

The late star was featured in Vogue for a spread with Alexander Wang in 2013

And in 2014, he appeared alongside Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn for DKNY's ad campaign.

Many from the from the skateboarding industry and stars have expressed their grief on social media with Ozzy Osbourne leading the tributes.

He tweeted: "Dylan Rieder. One of the most talented and brave men. I feel blessed to have known you. Rest in peace Dylan. My love and condolences to his family.";

 

 

 

 

 

 

Artists and repertoire (A&R) producer Dante Ross wrote: "Rest in
Power Dylan Rieder gone way too soon a style master and really nice person.

"My deepest condolences to his close friends and family."

In a statement Transworld Skateboarding said: "It’s hard to believe even typing this — we lost one of the best to ever step on a skateboard today.

"Dylan Rieder, whose flawless style, explosive power and epic video parts influenced an entire generation and beyond, passed away today due to complications with Leukemia.

"Rest in peace, Dylan. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family in this unbelievably difficult time."

His family has requested donations be made in his memory to Dr. Stephen Forman, who was his doctor, at the City of Hope Cancer Treatment Center.
