Jasmine Hartin is begging for pity but will answer to God, says sister of dead cop shot by socialite ahead of trial
TORY donor Lord Ashcroft’s former daughter-in-law goes for a topless swim — as she awaits trial over the death of a police chief.
But last night the family of the dead cop reacted with fury over her release on bail and warned: “She will answer to God.”
Bikini-clad Jasmine Hartin, 33, enjoyed a dip in the river to escape the sweltering rainforest heat in Belize.
The Canadian socialite is accused of manslaughter by negligence over the mysterious death of Supt Henry Jemmott after the pair had been drinking together in May last year.
Hartin admits she shot Jemmott, 42, in the head late at night on a pier in the resort of Ambergris Caye with the dad of five’s own gun.
She claims it was an accident.

Jemmott’s sister Cherie, 49, said: “The only thing I can do is to pray for justice.
“I believe she’s begging for pity.
“She wants everyone to feel sorry for her, after she took a life and took the father of five children away from them.
“We have a strong belief in God and we believe that whatever someone does, she will answer to God.”
At the time of the shooting, Hartin was the partner of Tory billionaire Lord Ashcroft’s son Andrew, 44.
They were never married but referred to each other as husband and wife.
He has since dumped her and lives in Turks and Caicos with their five-year-old twins.
Hartin is now staying in a shack in the highlands of Belize.
She says she fears for her life due to police corruption and the Ashcroft family’s influence in the country.
A court hearing later this month is expected to set a date for her trial.
Jemmott’s family believe she should have been charged with murder and not been granted bail.
Hartin is sharing a cabin with a female Canadian friend.
