Brits could see SNOW this weekend as chilly winter blasts send temperatures plummeting
The weather is set to become more unsettled throughout the weekend, hitting lows of 7 degrees
BRITAIN'S chills will be multiplying this weekend as frosty winds and showers bringing in the chance of snow.
The unsettled weather patterns are expected to hit Britain over the weekend, with temperatures dropping to single figures with a chance that some of the highest peaks will see snow.
The Met Office meteorologist Emma Sharples said: “The high pressure system over Scandinavia is going to move away, allowing a low pressure to move in from the Atlantic.
"We’ll see some showers today and tomorrow but it still feels pretty chilly out there, with the easterly winds not helping.”
She said with a wind change expected, some areas could warm up while others would be hit with showers.
She said: "It’s a mixture of sunshine and showers."
But for those hopeful of catching a glimpse of some weekend snow, Ms Sharples said: “It won’t be to the levels that anyone is going to notice it.
"In some of the showers, right over the top of the highest hills there might be the odd bit of sleet mixed in, which isn’t that uncommon for this time of year.
"We are going to see temperatures slowly recover through the weekend – so there is an odd chance of that happening.”
Both Saturday and Sunday are predicted to hit lows of 7 overnight with a high of 17 during the day.
Ms Sharples said: “There are much more mobile systems coming through and a lot more movement compared to the static weather we have had over the past week and a half."
But change is on the way over the next week, with a split in the weather to come through.
The north will see more unsettled weather with the south predicted to see the patterns slow to change.
