RUSSIAN tyrant Vladimir Putin has threatened to cut off Europe’s energy supplies completely.

He vowed to axe all “gas, coal and heating oil” if the EU imposes a price cap this winter.

He fumed: “We will not supply anything.”

The Kremlin chief blasted EU plans as “stupid” and vowed Russia would renege on deals to supply gas through the Nord Stream pipeline.

Addressing a forum in Vladivostok, he said: “Will there be any political decisions that contradict the contracts? Yes, we just won’t fulfil them. We will not supply anything at all if it contradicts our interests.”

Quoting a Russian fairy tale he added: “We would only have one thing left to do. As in the famous Russian fairy tale, we would sentence the wolf's tail to be frozen.”

Putin switched off Nord Stream One gas supplies last week for unspecified repairs and threatened not to restore them until sanctions are lifted.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov admitted it was “retaliatory”.

But European President Ursula von der Leyen insisted: “We must cut Russia’s revenues.”

She said Putin used cash from gas “to finance his atrocious war in Ukraine”.

EU energy ministers are due to meet tomorrow to thrash out emergency plans. They get 40 per cent of their gas and 30 per cent of their oil from Russia.

It came as Ukraine seized ground with an assault near northern Kharkiv. Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said some 25,000 Russian troops had died and another 55,000 had been injured, captured or deserted.

Tyrant's PM jibe

WITHOUT a shred of irony, Russian despot Vladimir Putin last night claimed Liz Truss’s election as PM was undemocratic.

He said: “In the UK, the procedure for electing the head of state is far from democratic.

“It takes place within the framework of the party that won the previous parliamentary election.

“The UK people do not participate in the change of government.”

Putin won his last election by crushing dissenting voices and preventing opponents from standing.
