The Entwistle Hotel, in Darwen, Lancashire, sold the pints today at the same price they were the year Elizabeth II was coronated in 1952.

On Facebook, the pub wrote: "In honour of her majesty Queen Elizabeth who sadly passed this afternoon from 10am in the morning and for the 1st hour all pints will be 6p which was the price of a pint in 1952 when the Queen ascended to the throne."

Customers took to the comment section and one said: "Lets hope folk don't get too greedy for your gesture."

While another commented: "You need to use pre decimal currency."

The 'most expensive' beer in Britain has been located in London where loyal ale drinkers can enjoy a pint of dark sour ale for £80.15p.

The Craft Beer Co chain sells the brew at its pub in Brixton, South London, and claims their ale is aged for 18months in a bourbon barrel.

The pub’s general manager Andrew Barton said: “We have only ever sold one before to a group of six guys who absolutely loved it.

“They really loved the sourness they got from it, combined with the sweetness of the bourbon.”

The beer can be bought by the bottle, but it will cost you £150, and only one has been sold so far.

Fortunately, there are still pubs able to keep their prices down.
