MOANING pro-EU campaigners were slammed for “patronising and slut-shaming” voters in an astonishing attack by Michael Gove.

The ‘slut-shaming’ phrase sparked a wave of reaction on social media as the comments renewed the fierce war of words between Remain and Leave voters.

The term is defined as the experience of being labelled a sexually out of control girl or woman – and then being punished socially for possessing this identity.

Mr Gove – the former Justice Secretary and co-chair of Vote Leave during the Referendum – said it was time for pro-EU MPs to “honour” the Brexit result and realise it was about far more than Brits wanting to build a brick wall at the border to keep out immigrants.
