Pregnant child bride dies giving birth ‘because her body was too young to take the strain of pregnancy’

A PREGNANT 15-year-old child bride has died after suffering a brain haemorrhage linked to giving birth at such a young age, it is claimed.

The Turkish teenager, known only as Derya B, was married off when she was just 14 years old and gave birth in the village of Mutki a week ago.

She was hospitalised in the days following the birth after she began complaining of a headache, vomiting and nausea.

However, gynaecology professor Aydan Biri told that it might be related to delivery at an early age.

Aydan said: "It is dangerous for a child bride to get pregnant. The mortality rate is higher in adolescent pregnancies.

"The risks of high blood pressure, early birth or an intervention in the birth are higher.

"The pregnancies of children who have not completed their physical development and whose organs have not yet completely developed often end in death."

Cops are now investigating her death and have already spoken to her father and her husband, whose age is unknown.

Young marriages are relatively common across the developing world.

Earlier this month harrowing pictures emerged of a pregnant 12-year-old in China after a man took her to hospital for a check up.

The man, 40, was arrested after tests showed the girl was three months pregnant and she needed a test to confirm the foetus was healthy.

She couldn’t speak Mandarin, meaning docs were unable to question her about her age.

Despite the man's claims she was his 20-year-old wife, a staff member said: "She is certainly not anywhere near 20 years old."
