British tourist drowns in a luxury Spanish hotel swimming pool
Man named locally as John Winsor died at the four-star Hotel Barcelo Cabo de Gata in Almeria
A BRITISH tourist has died in a suspected drowning at a luxury Spanish hotel swimming pool.
The holidaymaker, named locally as John Winsor, got into difficulties while swimming at the four-star Hotel Barcelo Cabo de Gata in Almeria, south east Spain.
An off-duty doctor attempted to revive him at the scene with help from a lifeguard who got him out of the water but could do nothing to save him.
He was certified dead soon after the arrival of paramedics around lunchtime on Saturday.
No one from the beachside hotel was available for comment today.

The results of the post-mortem have not been made public.
A routine probe has been launched by a local investigating magistrate.
The hotel is located on the beachhead of the large bay that joins stunning Cabo de Gato natural park and the city of Almeria.
The amenities include three pools, a spa with saunas and a fitness room.
It is not known where in the UK the dead man came from.
