Brit wife-killer who buried body in suitcase after his babysitter affair is FREE 8yrs into sentence because of loophole

A DEATH in Paradise-style wife-killer is heading home to Britain after being freed from a 67-year jail term because of a legal loophole.

Alexander Clack, 40, battered and strangled Nixiann Downes-Clack when she found out he was sleeping with their babysitter, 17.

The illicit lovers then buried her body in a suitcase in a shallow grave on the Caribbean island of Grenada.

Clack, jailed in 2016, has now walked free after his lawyer argued the loss of a court computer with a transcript of his trial made it impossible for him to appeal.

But Nixiann’s aunt Kim Szmyglewska, 45, told The Sun: “I’m horrified.

"How could they release someone on such a flimsy technicality when he is guilty of such evil and clearly a danger to women.

"Now he’s got away with murder and is heading this way.”

She said he has already been messaging women on an online dating app.

Grenada-born Nixiann, 27, met Clack in England before they moved to the island and had a daughter, now eight.

But the burly former prison officer, whose business supplied fish to hotels, killed his wife in June 2014 when she confronted him about his affair.

Clack’s release was ordered on September 20 when a court downgraded his conviction to manslaughter and ruled he had served enough jail time.

One Brit ex-pal of Clack said: “This decision defies belief.

"Even before the murder he had been involved in domestic violence involving calls to the police.”

Clack’s lawyer Anselm Clouden said: “Mr Clack was overjoyed but is a typically reserved Englishman. He may have celebrated with a glass of port.

"I understand the British High Commission assisted in arrangements to fly him home.”
