BBC rapped for describing Marble Arch Mound tourist attraction as ‘monumental mistake’
THE BBC has been rapped for describing a tourist attraction as a “monumental mistake”.
A reporter made the comment while referring to West London’s Marble Arch Mound eyesore.
The £6million viewing platform was compared to a slag heap when it opened last summer.
The 82ft artificial hill was shut by Westminster Council in January and has been dismantled.
In March, a reporter on BBC London said: “It’s fair to say it’s not going to be remembered particularly fondly, in fact by most as something of a monumental mistake.”
A host replied: “I think that’s a fair comment.”

The BBC’s Executive Complaints Unit ruled it broke impartiality rules.
A report said: “These comments did cross into opinion and were not suitable for a report during an election period.”
