‘Beautiful’ student, 22, hit and killed outside takeaway after car mounted kerb is pictured as man arrested for ‘murder’
A STUDENT killed in a suspected hit-and-run outside a takeaway has been called a "beautiful girl" by her devastated family.
Rebecca Steer, 22, "had a smile and a laugh that made everybody love her", they added.
She was one of two pedestrians run over in the early hours of Sunday outside Grill Out in Owestry, Shropshire, when a car mounted the pavement and drove off.
Rebecca died shortly after arriving at hospital. The second victim is still in hospital with serious injuries.
Her family called her "the most loving, talented and kind-hearted person you could ever wish to know".
They added: “We are all completely devastated by the loss of our beautiful girl Rebecca.

“She always had a smile and a laugh that made everybody love her. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
“She was the best daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend anyone could ask for. Rest in Peace beautiful girl.“
Criminal justice student Rebecca, from the village Llanymynech, Powys, is believed to have been in her third year at university in Liverpool.
She had been at the pub with pals in her village before heading to Oswestry on Saturday night, a resident said.

They added: "Becky was just a lovely, bubbly girl, nobody can believe it."
She also worked at a store in a nearby village.
Shop supervisor Sophie Owen told the : "Becky would do absolutely anything for anyone.
"She was the life of the party and it's beyond imaginable that she's no longer with us.
"She was absolutely stunning and had her whole life ahead of her, we are all in complete shock.
"My heart breaks for her family and friends. No one should have to go through [that]."
Another employee said: "She was such a lovely girl. It's such a waste. It is her mum I feel sorry for. I can't imagine how you begin to cope."
West Mercia Police has arrested a man, 28, on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
Following the arrest, Det Ch Insp Mark Bellamy of West Mercia Police said: "Thank you to the public for sharing our appeal and coming forward with information which has been vital in making this arrest.
"There will continue to be a police presence in the town centre today while our investigation continues."
Detective Inspector Dave Bettison, said earlier: “Clearly this is a concerning incident and I’d like to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to locate the vehicle and driver."
Emergency services rushed to the scene outside the Grill Out takeaway on Willow Road at around 2.50am.

Both pedestrians were taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by ambulance but tragically one woman died shortly after arrival.
The second victim is currently in hospital with serious injuries.
