‘Killer’ nurse Lucy Letby ‘murdered’ my baby son…I never got to hold him alive and she ‘tried to kill his twin too’
A TEARFUL mum begged "please don't let him die" after her newborn son was allegedly murdered by a nurse who also targeted his twin.
The mum also heartbreakingly told jurors how she never got to hold her baby alive after Lucy Letby, 32, injected him with air.
Letby allegedly murdered seven babies and attempted to kill ten others while working on the neo-natal ward at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
The "poisoner at work" is accused of injecting two babies with insulin during a year-long killing spree.
Letby also allegedly murdered or harmed others by injecting air or milk into their bloodstream or via a tube in their stomachs.
The collapses and deaths of all 17 children in the case were not "naturally-occurring tragedies", it was said.

Manchester Crown Court was told today how Letby allegedly targeted a twin boy and girl on the ward in June 2015.
She injected a fatal amount of air into the bloodstream of Child A before attempting to murder his sister, Child B, jurors heard.
The baby's mum recalled the harrowing events in her witness statement as she told how both children suffered sudden collapses.
She said: "All I can remember is being wheeled into a room and it felt like hundreds of people were standing over his cot and trying to resuscitate him.

"A nurse asked if I was religious and if I wanted them to say a prayer."
She was said to have begged "please don't let him die, please don't let him die" after being told Child A was not responding.
The baby's gran then warned "you need to let him go" after a doctor explained the tot would suffer brain damage if he survived, it was said.
The mum told how all she could bring herself to do was "nod" to the doctors to stop chest compressions.
She added: "One of the things that upset me the most is that I never had the opportunity to hold my son when he was alive."
The court was told in the devastating aftermath of Child A's death, his sister then started to show some of the same symptoms.
When told she needed to come to see Child B, the mum said: "Not my baby, not again".
The baby girl recovered, with her parents revealing since then they have remained extremely protective of her.
'ONE COMMON DENOMINATOR'
The court heard previously how Letby, who had special training in caring for ICU babies, was a "constant malevolent presence".
She is accused of murdering five boys and two girls, and the attempted murder of another five boys and five girls.
Some of the newborns were repeatedly targeted by the nurse - including one baby Letby is alleged to have killed after three previous failed attempts.
Consultants at the hospital grew suspicious of the "significant rise" in the number of babies dying or suffering "catastrophic" collapses.
Jurors were told they found Letby was the "one common denominator" among the deaths and collapses.
Letby allegedly declared "I am evil" on a Post-It note found in her home after her arrest.
She is also said to have scrawled: "I don't deserve to live. I killed them on purpose because I'm not good enough"
Letby denies all 22 charges, which are said to have taken place between June 2015 and June 2016.
