THE Brit accused of planning to shoot Donald Trump has been filmed firing off a pistol at a Las Vegas shooting range just 24 hours before he tried to kill the presidential nominee.

The footage shows the 20-year-old being given safety training and firing 20 9mm rounds at the Battlefield Vegas shooting range.

The owner of the range, Ron Cheney, told : "He rented a Glock 17, he said he wanted to learn how to fire a hand gun.

"Europeans for the most part have seen guns in the movies but have never held them in their hand.

"So the way he was, he was a little nervous and apprehensive, it was his first time shooting a gun."

But Sandford soon relaxed into his 15 minute training session before he left with his rolled up target.

Glock 9mm are one of the standard issue hand guns officers of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police carry.

Just a day later the Brit, who was in the US illegally, would attempt to snatch a cops gun at the Treasure Island Casino on the Vegas strip during a rally for The Donald.

Last month Sandford pleaded guilty to federal charges of being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm and disrupting an official function.

The 20-year-old could have faced up to 20 years in prison if he had been convicted of both charges at trial but due to the plea deal, now faces about two years in a US prison.

But , Sandford will not be able to appeal the final judgement.

Court documents have released that Sandford acknowledged he had tried to reach for the police officer's gun while Trump was on stage at the rally.

The plea deal also acknowledges that the young British man had been in the US illegally at the time of the assassination attempt.

The young man never managed to reach the gun and was taken from the rally without further incident.

The family's attorney Saimo Chahal argued in court that the young man was delusional at the time of the botched assassination attempt.

His mother Lynne Sandford has previously said they had to convince her son to take the plea deal.

Speaking to ITV News London, she said the family's lawyer now hoped the trial would be adjourned.

Ms Sandford said: "I was very relieved that he signed it.

"It was a bit of a battle because he is quite headstrong. But we all laid the options out there for him on the table and, of course, it is a gamble."

Ms Sandford has also said she feared that her son, who she said was extremely vulnerable and suffered from anxiety as well as autism and anorexia, would die in jail.

She revealed she was overjoyed at being able to visit her son while he was in jail.

The 20-year-old has been locked up in the US after the botched assassination attempt at a Trump rally at the Treasure Island casino in Las Vegas on June 18.

The family's lawyer has said the main aim is to have Michael returned to the UK to be treated at a medical facility.

Attorney Ms Chahal said Sandford needed medical care for his severe health problems.

Sandford now faces sentencing in December.
