Made In Chelsea plane crashes in the Pacific as cast and crew head to Costa Rica
A PLANE carrying members of the Made In Chelsea production crew crashed into the Pacific ocean early today as the cast headed to film a special in Costa Rica.
Two senior producers and two technical directors were rescued along with a pilot after the light aircraft came down in bad weather five miles offshore.
The rest of the cast and crew were flying to a luxury resort separately - but will now head back to the UK "as soon as possible" after the shoot was abandoned.
The Cessna 210 Centurion plane with five on board crashed as it came in to land in Tambor at around 6pm local time on Wednesday - about 1am here.
Coast guards and police pulled them aboard a rescue boat before the plane sank around five miles out to sea.
The survivors were taken to hospital in nearby Puntarenas for a check-up.
A spokeswoman for the E4 reality show said: "Four of our production team on Made in Chelsea, produced by Monkey Kingdom, were involved in a plane crash earlier today (UK time) in a resort in Costa Rica.
"We can confirm that all four people and the pilot are safe and unhurt.
"No cast were on board.
"We are grateful to the emergency services in Costa Rica for their assistance in this serious incident. "We have taken immediate steps to ensure those involved have every support locally and our priority is to return all cast and crew home.
"We ask that the privacy of everyone involved in Made in Chelsea, both on and off screen, is respected over the coming days."
