UK airport expansions to ‘boost Britain’s future’ after nation’s vote to leave EU
The successful airport must take firm action to reduce the impact of expansion on residents
BRITAIN’S post-Brexit future will be boosted when a decision on airport expansion is finally taken this week, says the Transport Secretary.
Chris Grayling, writing exclusively in The Sun on Sunday, says it “will end decades of dithering”.
Heathrow or Gatwick will emerge as the winner in an announcement due this Tuesday, followed by a year-long public consultation then a final Commons vote.
Mr Grayling, who campaigned for Brexit, says that in the aftermath of the vote, people want a “more confident, more ambitious Britain that can compete with the very best in the world”.
But he also said the successful airport would have to take firm action to reduce the impact of expansion on residents.
