RAF serviceman missing for a month ‘spotted heading towards his base’
Corrie McKeague, 23, was last seen in the early hours of the morning last month after a night out on the town in Suffolk
AN RAF airman who has been missing for a month may have been seen walking towards his base, police have said.
Corrie McKeague, 23, was last seen in the early hours of the morning on September 24 after a night out with friends in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
Police have revealed they received a report of a potential sighting of the 23-year-old near Hollow Road industrial estate, heading in the direction of RAF Honington.
Officers say they received a call from a man who said he was driving in the area when he saw a man in light clothing behind a sugar beet factory at approximately 4.20am.
Speaking on the case, a Suffolk police spokesman said: “Police are currently working to see if this can be confirmed as Corrie.

“However, [we] are continuing to ask anyone who may have seen him anywhere in the area in the early hours of Saturday to come forward.”
McKeague was reported missing on Monday, 26 September, after enjoying a weekend off work.
After he failed to turn up at RAF Honington, police found CCTV footage of the 23-year-old walking on his own while eating fast food in Brentgovel Street at 3.25am.
While McKeague's mother, Nicola Urquhart, fears someone else may have been involved in his disappearance, police say there is no evidence of criminality.
Officials have searched nearby woods, as well as a bin lorry, in their search for the airman, under the impression his phone was either lost or thrown away and ended up in rubbish.
McKeague has been described as 5ft 10in, white, and of medium build with short, light brown hair.
He was wearing a pink Ralph Lauren polo shirt and brown suede Timberland boots when he disappeared.
