He also pleaded guilty to her unlawful burial and obstructing a coroner.

Speaking from the dock at Luton Crown Court he said: "I plead not guilty to the murder but guilty to the manslaughter of Natalie Hemming."

Miss Hemming disappeared from her home in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, on April 30.

Her body was found dumped in woodland in Chandler's Cross, Hertfordshire.

Hemming is accused of murdering Miss Hemming between these dates and his guilty manslaughter plea was not accepted by the prosecution.

He will now stand trial for murder.

Prosecuting for the Crown, Simon Russell-Flint QC said: "It is unacceptable in this case and we would say to have a trial for the count of murder."

Hemming, wearing purple tie, white shirt and dark grey suit, was remanded in custody.

His trial will begin tomorrow morning.
