EERIE pictures have revealed buildings and a lorry frozen in time inside an abandoned service station.

The rotting site based off the M1 has been closed for years.

Urban explorers have since visited the ghost town where overgrown weeds have taken over.

What was once a busy station used by commuters and truckers is now deserted and fenced off.

Empty shops, a smashed up telephone box and a ripped up forecourt are all that remain.

However, one lorry filled with wooden panels appears to have been ditched some time ago.

One intrigued explorer told the site gave them a strange feeling when they had a look around.

The person, who wanted to remain unnamed, said: "The site is very strange to wander through.

"It was a foggy day when we visited which gave the site an eerie feeling."

For those visiting the station, the hum of traffic can still be heard from the nearby motorway.

With a Travelodge open nearby, motorists have to drive past the neglected site to get to it.

Despite the main building being locked, electrical outbuildings and storage containers have been left open.

The car wash systems are covered in green grot and graffiti while chairs and signs are battered.

More sites are becoming abandoned across the UK with a tunnel in Wales previously being captured.

The spooky old railway tunnel in Cymmer, Wales hasn't been used since 1960.
