Man dies after ‘falling into freezing water’ by London Bridge while temperatures plunge to -3C
A MAN has died after "falling into freezing water" near London Bridge as temperatures plummeted to -3C.
Emergency services scrambled to the scene at the River Thames at around 5.30pm on Monday night.
The Met's Marine Policing Unit, City of London Police, and the RNLI all joined the search but were unable to find the man.
But cops have now said they have discovered a body who they believe to be the missing man.
His identity is still yet to be confirmed.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "At 9.25pm the body of a man was recovered from the banks of the water at London Bridge.
"He is believed to be the man seen entering the water earlier.
"Police are working to confirm his identity and inform next of kin. The circumstances of the death are not being treated as suspicious."
Temperatures in the capital were an icy -3C last night after the nation was battered by snow and ice.
