Kettering ‘murder’: Girl, 4, and her brother, 6, found dead with their mum at home as police arrest man, 52, over horror

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a mum and her two kids, aged four and six, were found dead.

Police were scrambled to a home in Kettering, Northamptonshire, at around 11.15am today.

The mother and her two children were discovered with serious injuries inside.

Tragically, she was declared dead at the scene while the youngsters died shortly after in hospital.

A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder at around 1.30pm and remains in custody.

One local resident told The Sun a man was seen "covered in blood" as he was led away by cops at the scene.

Northamptonshire Police confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the horror.

Extra patrols will also be taking place in the area while officers investigate.

Forensics cops have spent the late morning and afternoon searching the ground floor flat.

A Vauxhall Zafira parked outside the flat was also taken away on a flat-bed lorry by police.

Superintendent Steve Freeman, said: “There are no words to describe how upsetting this incident is but I want to reassure the public that we have a team of detectives working on the case, absolutely determined to get justice for this woman and the two children.

“The man we have arrested is currently being questioned by detectives in custody however anyone with any information is encouraged to contact us, either by calling 101 or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

“We understand that the local community, and indeed many people across the country, will be shocked by this event.

"It is a desperately sad incident and I want to be absolutely clear on our unwavering commitment in establishing what has happened here and in seeking justice for this woman and these young children.”

Post mortems will take place in due course to establish a cause of death.
