COPS are hunting a disgraceful driver who ran away after sending a ‘grandmother and two grandchildren’ flying in a brutal hit-and-run car crash.

Gran Khalida Hussain, 57, who had been with four of her grandchildren, broke legs and ribs and was treated for head injuries.

An 11-year-old boy suffered a broken nose while his twin sister sustained back injuries.
Khalida’s son Asad said she saved lives by taking the force of the impact. He added: “That car must have been doing 60-70mph.
“Imagine if that happened to your mum and kids. There are no words, just anger. If you look at the video it is horrific how they went ten feet in the air. It’s a miracle they are here in this world.”

It was as the group reached the centre of the road in Newham, east London, that the vehicle ploughed into them, sending Khalida flying approximately 10 metres into a plastic bollard.

The two young children were also hit by the car and sent skyward but fortunately the two older schoolgirls managed to get out of the way.

The car then came to a halt on the pavement as the woman and two youngsters lay motionless in the road.

The two schoolgirls stood frozen in the moment as the car doors opened and two men made a run for it.

As the men made their escape, the schoolgirls ran to a nearby house to ask for help.

The three victims are understood to have suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision on Thursday but are not thought to be life-threatening.

The footage was posted online by the Newham People's Alliance with an appeal to help catch the culprits.
