TODAY we are launching The Sun Apprenticeship Scheme and searching for three 18 to 25-year-olds to train as news and sports journalists.

If hired you will be paid to train with us for a year.

Two people will go on to work for Sun Sport, the third in The Sun newsroom.

So if you are a keen school leaver or graduate with at least five good GCSEs, including English, an enthusiasm to learn and a passion for news or sport, apply now.

Lucy Jones, 23, went on the scheme and is now a Sun TV reporter who has interviewed celebs such as actor Tom Hiddleston and 1D’s Louis Tomlinson.

She has even quizzed Prince Harry and last week Lucy spent the night in a haunted hotel with TV presenter Christine Lampard.

She says: “Working on The Sun is a dream job. There’s nowhere like it.”

Our three apprentices will start their training in the New Year and be mentored throughout the year by The Sun’s senior journalists.

Your apprenticeship will start with a two-week course with News Associates – Britain’s number-one course with the journalists’ training body, the NCTJ.

This will be followed by a 22-week intensive training course at News Associates HQ in Wimbledon, south London where you will be taught to write articles, journalism law, court reporting, public affairs, production journalism and shorthand.

Once you have passed the course, you will work full-time for the world’s greatest newspaper.

This is not an internship – you will be paid throughout the year as an apprentice.

Make no mistake. It will be tough, it will be full-on but it will be fun.

Here’s what we are looking for in our Sun Apprentices:

• Passion for news or sport
• Knowledge of new media - including social media and apps
• At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent, grade C or above, including English
• Good command of the English language
• Confidence in your writing
• Willingness to listen and learn
• A great work ethic and be self-motivated
• Willingness to study and work simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
• Be presentable
• Be able to live within commuting distance of south and central London during the apprenticeship
• Be willing to travel without notice. A full driving licence is desirable but not essential.
