City lawyer yelled ‘start running, I’m coming for you’ in ‘sexual assault in loo’ and ‘spanked a woman’s bottom’ after she ‘refused to hug him’ at a rowing club party
Former rowing club captain denies racially aggravated assault and sexual assault
A LAWYER spanked a woman’s bottom and yelled: “Start running because I’m coming for you,” a court heard.
Alastair Main, 35, was said to have prowled a rowing club party like it was his “territory”.
He poured a pint over his 27-year-old victim’s head and called her an “Australian slut” after she refused a hug, it was claimed. He then allegedly followed her to the toilets and sexually assaulted her.
The woman, who cannot be named, said: “I was in shock.
“He was just pulling my hair. He pulled my skirt up, still calling me a slut, and asked me if I was wearing any knickers. He was slapping my thighs and my bottom.”
As she made her escape, 2003 national rowing champion Main allegedly shouted: “You better start running because I’m coming for you.”
He was then said to have followed her and a friend to a nearby bar, where he again called her “Slut” as she tried to hide in a toilet cubicle.
Part of the alleged incident at the London Rowing Club Christmas bash in Putney, South West London, was witnessed by member Jacqueline Grosch.
She said: “His demeanour was one that it was his territory.
“He was pacing like this is my domain, it was very aggressive behaviour.”
The ex-public schoolboy, of Kingston, South West London, denies sexual and racially aggravated assault.
The trial at Wimbledon magistrates court was adjourned. Main was bailed until January 3.
