Elle Edwards shooting: Killers ‘deserve to spend every Christmas behind bars’ cops warn after ‘cold-blooded’ pub murder

THE cold-blooded "cowards" who shot dead Elle Edwards deserve to spend every Christmas behind bars, police say.

The innocent 26-year-old was blasted in the head after a gunman opened fire at revellers in a pub’s heated outdoor area.

The Sun revealed how the killer may have had a tip off about a rival drinking at the Lighthouse Inn, in Wallasey, Merseyside.

Terrified witnesses said they fired up to 12 rounds before fleeing in a dark Mercedes - leaving four men injured.

Revellers performed CPR before paramedics arrived but Elle died soon after at Arrowe Park Hospital.

One man is still in a critical condition in hospital following the Christmas Eve horror.

Chief Constable Serena Kennedy of Merseyside Police has now blasted the "cowards" behind the killing and vowed to find them.

In a statement on Tuesday night, she slammed: "These people... think the only way to resolve an argument is through violence.

"Anyone involved in arranging this shooting, pulling the trigger and supplying the gun deserves to see every Christmas behind bars."

She promised Elle's family the force will be "relentless" in finding justice for the beautician.

On Monday Elle's broken family laid floral tributes outside the pub she was killed.

Her parents' tribute read: "To my beautiful Elle, you are the light of my life you will never be gone, Mum and Dad xxxx."

And a heart shaped plaque alongside photos of Elle read: "Special daughter, the happiness you brought, in your own special way, will be remembered with love each and everyday."

Police continue to question a man, 30, from Tranmere, Wirral, who is being held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

And a woman, 19, from Rock Ferry, Wirral, was held on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Elle had been with her sister Lucy and pals "dancing and singing" before tragedy struck around 11.50pm.

Lucy - who had flown home from Dubai to spend Christmas with her family - had headed home before shots rang out.

Elle - not the intended target - was then struck by a bullet and slumped to the ground.
