Baltimore school bus crash kills at least six in smash with commuter bus
Ten others left injured with one in a critical condition as mourners gathered to pray for victims
A SCHOOL and commuter bus have crashed in Baltimore, killing six people and injuring ten.
Horrific photographs show the full extent of the carnage after the vehicles collided on Tuesday morning.
Police said the bus was just "four or five blocks away" from picking up its first child.
Public schools spokeswoman Anne Fullerton confirmed there were no children among the casualties.
"We have six families that we have to notify that their loved ones aren't coming home," police spokesman T.J. Smith said.

Police were called to the scene on Frederick avenue at 7:00am local time (11:00am GMT).
There are fears the school bus driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel as police said his vehicle collided with a car and a pillar before ploughing into the transit bus.
"It literally looks like a bomb exploded in the bus. It has catastrophic damage", Mr Smith said.
Fire crews had to cut through the shell of the busses and rip out seats to access the injured and the dead.
The injured were rushed to the University of Maryland Medical Centre.
One person is in a critical condition while the other casualties are stable.
Photos from the scene show emergency services swarming the scene just before sunrise on Tuesday.
The driver's side of the transit bus was ripped off as debris littered the street.
It is not yet known exactly what caused the crash.
