Police are treating the incident as a hate crime after the sickening video was taken on a packed tram
THIS is the staggering moment a commuter hurled racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic abuse at fellow passengers on a packed tram.
The man was caught on camera screaming insults at people in Manchester city centre yesterday.
In the shocking video the grey haired man can be heard telling a Jewish man: “Why don’t you f*** off back where you come from?”
He also calls another passenger trying to calm him down a ‘f***ing f****t’ before telling another man he ‘looked like a f***ing paedophile’.
People can be heard gasping as the man continues his vile rant.
The man is even offered a seat in an attempt to calm him down, as others tell him to get off the tram.
At one point he appears to raise his fists to commuters.
Police have been alerted to the clip, taken by passenger Stephen Stokes, and are treating the incident as a hate crime, the reports.
He then looks to grab Stephen’s phone from his hand before reportedly attempted to start another fight after he got off the tram.
Stephen told the MEN: “He was raising his fists and trying to fight people. A man restrained him so he couldn’t hit anyone.
“When he let go of him, he called him a f****t. He then targeted a Jewish guy, who was minding his own business and hadn’t said a word, before having a go at a black guy.
“It was disgusting. The whole carriage was sickened.”
Transport for Greater Manchester’s Metrolink Director, Peter Cushing, said: “This type of behaviour has no place on Metrolink – or anywhere else.
“We won’t stand for it and neither will our customers. We will work with Greater Manchester Police and share CCTV footage to help try and identify the individual.”
Luckily the blade missed the 36-year-old man’s carotid artery and he is in a stable condition in hospital.
The sickening video, taken in Manchester, caught three hooded youths yelling at the man – who was minding his own business during the morning commute.
