Four people including teen injured after car ploughs through crowds in Leicester
Terrifying scenes unfolded at the city centre, with one pedestrian thrown into the air
Four people, including a teenager, have been hurt after a car ploughed into a crowd of pedestrians when it mounted a kerb.
Witnesses said the teen went flying "10ft into the air" after the vehicle mounted the busy pavement, sending crowds scrambling for cover.
Police have said that a woman in hospital with serious injuries and a man with minor injuries are also among those hurt in the crash.
Witness Dr Beejay Bhatt said he saw the car "barrelling down the road" before it mounted the kerb, heading straight into the hundreds of people waiting for a bus home.
He told The Sun Online: "It was 5pm so there were loads of people there and this car just goes barrelling into the kerb.
"The driver was driving like they were possessed."
He said he saw a woman as well as a young man, about 15 or 16, go flying.
He said: "The boy got launched literally into the air, 10ft at least.
"He flew through the air and hit the door.
"He was lifeless on the floor."
Dr Bhatt said the boy remained on the ground, appearing to be lifeless, before he eventually started to come around.
The horrified witness said the victim's mother arrived at the scene, cradling her boy.
He said: "People had just been forced to jump out of the way, literally diving out of the way, screaming.
"It was a recipe for disaster."
He said local police arrived at the scene extremely quickly, with officers cordoning off the scene.
Dr Bhatt said: "It happened so quickly, like a flash."
Two people were rushed to hospital after the crash in Leicester's city centre about 5pm.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at Humberstone Gate, with the car having collided with pedestrians.
Major delays were reported from the scene as authorities cordoned off the area.
