Row over loud music ends in murder as neighbour ploughs into home with DIGGER before being shot dead with shotgun
A RAGING neighbour ploughed a digger into a house after a furious dispute over loud music - before being shot dead with a shotgun.
Sandro Mugnai's relationship with his neighbour Gezim Dodoli, a labourer from Albania, soured after frequent disagreements between the pair.
The neighbours argued about loud music, bad smells coming from the pipes, and land boundaries.
The attack took place in San Polo, Arezzo, Italy, on January 5.
Sandro Mugnai and six of his family were having dinner when they heard a "terrifying clanging noise".
They were shocked to see their neighbour Gezim Dodoli parked outside of their property with an excavator.
Mugnai reportedly shouted at his neighbour to stop, but the attack went on.
Local media said he grabbed his shotgun and fired a warning shot, which was ignored, resulting in four rounds being fired into the excavator driver's cabin, killing his neighbour instantly.
The arm of the machine struck the home, damaging the window of the dining room and the roof.
Mugnai, 53, was arrested and remains in custody in Arezzo Prison.
The weapon and shell casings at the crime scene have been siezed, and judicial authority ordered medico-legal investigations of the case.
Mugnai is accused of murder but is expected to plead self-defence.
Dodoli leaves behind a wife and two children, who live in Seveso.
