Three-year-old girl stabbed to death in bizarre ‘unprovoked’ attack at mum’s workplace by co-worker

Cops say the family of the youngster, who is known as Ruby Vasquez had no ties with the man alleged to have killed her

A THREE-YEAR-OLD girl has been 'stabbed to death' in an unprovoked attack by her mum's co-worker for no apparent reason.

The tot, who is known as Ruby Vasquez, had been brought to her mother's workplace from daycare when out of nowhere, Ricardo Augusto Utuy allegedly went for her with a knife "without warning."

Cops say Utuy, who was from Guatemala, fled the clothing factory in Downtown Los Angeles  where he worked after the stabbing.

However he later surrendered to police and was brought in on suspicion of murder.

His bail was set at £813,000 ($1 million US.)

According to cops he didn't have any ties with the mother of the toddler, or her family.

Utuy started working at the factory about two weeks ago.

Los Angeles Police Department Detective Moses Castillo told : "That’s the bizarre thing about this — there is no known motive.

It was unprovoked. … There is no words to even try to describe this person.

“Anybody that’s capable of doing this heinous act to a young child is capable of doing anything."
