The first incident, on October 12, saw an 11-year-old boy approached by a man in a black car, believed to be a Renault Clio, after he got off the school bus on the way home just before 4pm in Weston Rhyn.

The man, who spoke in a Liverpudlian accent, claimed to the boy that his mother had sent him to pick him up.

But the boy did not believe the man and fled, with the car seen driving away towards Trehowell Lane.

In a second incident, which took place on October 18, a 13-year-old girl was approached by a man in a small black van on Longueville Drive, Oswestry.

The man told her to get inside the vehicle, but the girl ran way.

Police officers have said the man in the first incident is described as white, aged in his late 20s with short, straight brown hair and is of thin build.

The girl in the second incident told cops that the man was white, in his 20s and had dark brown hair and slight stubble.

He was also described as having a slight Liverpool accent.

Detective Inspector Mark Jones from Shrewsbury CID, leading the investigation, said: "We understand that these are concerning incidents for the community and we are working hard to investigate and understand the full circumstances.

"A number of lines of enquiry are still being followed and I am keen to hear from anyone who feels that they may recognise the person from the artist's impression and from the descriptions provided by the witnesses."

Members of the public with any information are asked to call 101 and ask for West Mercia Police quoting incident number 481s of 12 October or 308s of 15 October.
