The map, revealed by , features traditional fish and chip shops, Chinese restaurants, Indian takeaway and kebab shops - an option for everyone in your household.

With the UK spending an estimated £42billion each year on takeaway, it's no secret that there are some good options for those who are hungry.

Though Brits love a good takeaway, not all fast food is created equally - and one option was the most popular in a recent survey.

The most popular option was Chinese food, with 25 per cent of those surveyed by YouGov choosing the tasty option.

A hefty 17 per cent said they preferred Indian, and another 16 per cent opted for the traditional fish and chips.

Other popular options included pizza, Thai food, kebabs, chicken and burgers.

There are approximately 10,500 fish and chips shops across England, , Wales and Northern Ireland, according to Intrafish.

As many as 20 fish and chip shops on the map have been nominated for the 2023 National Fish and Chip Shop Awards.

A favourite Welsh chippy run by a secondary school teacher and his wife is just one of the shops nominated this year.

Based in Hengoed, the couple said they named their restaurant, Fish Kitchen 1854 after the famous viaduct nearby.

The awards will be given out this February in London by the National Federation of Fish Friers.

NFFF president Andrew Cook said: "We are delighted to be bringing the awards back as they are so important as the main driver of standards in our industry.

"They are also a fantastic opportunity to highlight key issues that affect our businesses, it is also a great place for operators and suppliers to meet and where many friendships are formed."

A study by Vodaphone last year found Londoners spend the most on their takeaways each month, paying out £73.70.

That's a massive £20 more than the national average, and they also order more often than anyone else.

Some Brits have given up takeaway treats all together to be more financially savvy.

Meanwhile, the workers of your favourite takeaways give us the inside scoop, including how to bag free food.
