JAMIE Oliver has revealed his cupboard essentials that will save you money when cooking during the current financial squeeze.
The celebrity chef has created a stir with his dinner recipes costing as little as 40p.
Now the top chef has shared the ingredients which will cut down on costs while filling you up.
Jamie rated chickpeas, beans or pulses, tinned tomatoes and flour as key ingredients.
He also said that chilli sauce, curry paste and pesto were brilliant for transforming humble staples.
Jamie tipped three essentials from the freezer – peas, sweet potato and garlic – as key ingredients for plenty of dishes.
These items can be used as a base for at least a week’s worth of meals costing as little as 40p per head.
The celebrity chef's advice comes after a Tesco-commissioned survey of 2,000 adults revealed 43 per cent are planning to spend less on kitchen essentials this year.

Jamie said: “Research shows many people are trying to find ways to spend less on their food shop this year and looking for ingredients that will make more meals for less.

The Essex-born chef said items like flour, lentils and tinned tomatoes can save you time and money when it comes to preparing meals for your family.
Jamie was inspired to share his tips after Tesco's survey found surging energy bills were the main reason people are looking to spend less on their food shop.
The survey also found that the dishes most people fall back on to save money are beans on toast, jacket potatoes, soup, stews, omelettes and pasta bakes.
But a fifth of people quizzed by OnePoll always use ingredients in the same way because they lack inspiration.
Jamie to help people use up their store cupboard ingredients, including Sweet Potato and Pepper Tikka Masala, Spicy Store Cupboard Soup and Odds and Ends Arrabbiata Al Forno.
