Donald Trump sleeps in luxury lighthouse during visits to his £300m Turnberry golf resort
DONALD Trump sleeps in a luxurious lighthouse during visits to his Turnberry golf resort.
The US Presidential hopeful, 70, uses the landmark as his personal des res in between campaigning for the keys to the White House.
And if he doesn't win in Tuesday’s election, he can always jet across to Ayrshire to drown his sorrows — waited on by his very own butler and executive chef.
The iconic lighthouse lay empty for 40 years before the tycoon transformed it as part of the course’s £300million revamp.
It boasts a lounge and two en-suite bedrooms, with double-ended baths offering spectacular views over the Firth of Clyde.
When Trump is not there, it costs £7,500 a night — but it’s not a patch on the White House in Washington DC, which has 35 bathrooms, five chefs and a bowling alley. But staff won’t be celebrating if its owner triumphs in the polls.
A source said: “It’s tricky but they don’t want to get involved.”
DWIGHT WAS KING OFF THE CASTLE
IF he wins, Trump won’t be the first US President to have a pad on the Ayrshire coast.
The Eisenhower Hotel takes up the top floors of Culzean Castle, just a few minutes north of Trump Turnberry.
It was gifted to ex-US Army general Dwight D Eisenhower in 1945 in recognition of his role as Allied commander in World War Two.
He went on to serve as the 34th US President from 1953 until 1961. His gaff is now a luxury hotel suite.
