Shocking pictures from the scene show injured children and pools of blood

AT least six young children are believed to have been killed after a nursery was bombed by forces loyal to the Syrian regime.

Forces hit a nursery in the rebel held town of Harasta, outside of Damascus, injuring many.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor said 17 people, most of them children, were also injured.

Shocking pictures from the scene show smears of blood on the kindergarten's tiled floor, underneath a small red slide propped against a wall painted with children's drawings.

Video footage shows youngsters with cuts and grazes being treated by medics.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported that regime forces have been targeting the outskirts of the capital.

The government and its Russian allies say they target only militants, and that fighters are to blame for civilian casualties by operating in civilian areas.
Western countries say the bombing has deliberately targeted hospitals, aid workers and bakeries and Washington has accused Moscow of "war crimes".

Bombing of eastern Aleppo, where 250,000 people are trapped and running out of food and medical resources, has resumed following a brief ceasefire this week.

The ceasefire was described by Russia as the final chance for rebels to leave under fire areas.

But, Save the Children said injured children in eastern Aleppo would remain trapped without access to medical treatment because the exit routes failed to offer a viable solution.

Footage that surfaced this week that appeared to show the moment predatory ISIS militants blow to bits what it is claimed to be a Russian helicopter.
