A frantic search was launched nearly two months ago after the teenager went missing from his home in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire in Scotland on September 17.

Police had made several appeals for information in the weeks following the 16-year-old disappearance.

But officers were called to wooded area near Old Kilpatrick, West Dunbartonshire, last Thursday around 1pm after the body of a young man was found.

In a statement by Scott's family on Facebook, they said: "Sadly today we have received the news we've been dreading, wee Scott has been found and heartbreakingly he is no longer with us.

"We thank everybody for their support and help over the last seven weeks.

"This page has been a big help for us in the search for Scott but for us as a family to be able to grieve properly we need to take time away and after tonight we'll close the page, thank you again from the Diver family."

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
