Prince Harry’s girl Meghan Markle ‘split from hubby after getting close to Canadian ice hockey star Michael Del Zotto’
'She was never alone with him and Mr Del Zotto had absolutely nothing to do with the end of her marriage' says Meghan Markle's spokesman
PRINCE Harry’s new girlfriend split from her husband after growing close to a hunky ice hockey star.
Pals said Meghan Markle, 35, developed a “close friendship” with Canadian Michael Del Zotto, 26.
Del Zotto was playing for New York Rangers and Meghan tweeted pics of them together after watching him.
Prince Harry's new girlfirend divorced Trevor Engelson, her film director husband of two years, in August 2013 citing “irreconcilable differences”.
But her social media reveals visits to see Del Zotto on April 8 and 22, 2013, and calling him “the best!” A pal said: “Trevor was devastated at the split. She suddenly had no time for him.
“She said she was just friends with Michael. Her social media had pics and references to him but she deleted it all after divorcing.”
When Trevor, 40, was asked about Meghan’s alleged friendship with Del Zotto, he said: “Who? Oh, him. I don’t have anything to say about it. I just can’t.”
Representatives for Michael and Meghan both denied they were ever in a relationship.
Meghan’s spokesman added: “In fact, she was never alone with him and Mr Del Zotto had absolutely nothing to do with the end of her marriage.”
The actress and Harry, 32, began dating in June.
But Trevor still has pictures of his lavish Jamaican beach wedding to Meghan in 2011 on his Facebook pages.
A friend said: “He is still in love with her and so the revelation of her relationship with Harry has hit him hard.”
