Potty-mouthed vicar facing axe over X-rated rants to colleagues accuses Church of England of using ‘Sharia law’ to discipline him
Unrepentant reverend accused the church of acting in a manner more associated with strict followers of Islam
A SWEARY vicar facing the sack over F-word rants at colleagues has accused the Church of England of using “Sharia law” to discipline him.
Dr Canon Jules Gomes, 50, said it acted in a way more associated with strict followers of Islam.
He told The Sun: “The Church shouldn’t use its Sharia law to block democracy.”
A disciplinary tribunal ruled Dr Gomes’ behaviour was “unbecoming and inappropriate” for a clerk of Holy Orders.
Its decision on defrocking the former Isle of Man vicar is due later this month.
