Look, it’s not the White House - but Barack Obama’s new post-presidency pad isn’t too shabby

IT'S not the White House - but Barack Obama’s new digs post-presidency aren’t too shabby.

After the current President, who has served two terms, hands over the top job to Donald Trump he’ll be heading to Kalorama neighbourhood - just two miles away from the White House in Washington DC.

The Obamas will settle into the nine-bedroom home, which is reportedly owned by Joe Lockhart — who served as the White House press secretary under Bill Clinton.

The 762-square-metre house will accommodate Barack, Michelle, Malia and Sasha come January 20, and it is valued at well over £4million.

According to , the reason the Obamas will stay in the same area is so that their youngest daughter, Sasha, can complete high school — which will conclude in 2018.

“We’re going to have to stay a couple of years in DC probably so Sasha can finish,” Obama said in March.

“Transferring someone in the middle of high school? Tough.”

According to the Zillow, a US rental return calculator, the family will be dishing out an estimated rental repayment of $22,000 (£17,000) a month.

The brick home, which has wooden hardwood floors, a terrace and a garden, has a grey and white finish across most of the rooms and nine bathrooms.

The house, which was once owned by Captain Charles Hamilton Maddox, who served in both world wars, is fitted out with a gated courtyard that will hold multiple secret service vehicles.

So after he hands over the reigns to Trump, what will President Obama do with himself in 2017?

The 55-year-old has hinted at spending more time working with My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, which is an organisation that improves the lives of disadvantaged black and Latino boys.

In an interview last year, he said that the Alliance “will remain a mission for me and for Michelle not just for the rest of my presidency, but for the rest of my life”.

Chances are, he will also pen another book — considering his first two memoirs were both international bestsellers.

Previously, George W Bush received over £5million for his autobiography, while Bill Clinton cashed in almost £15million.

He’ll also get a lifelong pension, which is currently around £163,0000 for the year of 2016.

Both Mr and Mrs Obama will be given financial assistance to help respond to mail and speaking requests, as well as funds to pay for Secret Service agents, health and travel expenses.

The down-to-earth President has even hinted that he’s thinking of trying out something a bit more normal for a change.

He joked: “In seven months or so, I’ll be on the job market … I’m going to get on LinkedIn and see what comes up!”

In an interview with GQ last year, Obama admitted: “I have fantasised about being able to put a team and how much fun that would be. I think it’d be terrific.

As for the current First Lady, all eyes are on Michelle Obama to run against Trump for President in 2020.

The hashtag #Michelle2020 has begun trending, after she became one of the most popular political figures in recent history.

But if her husband’s comments in October are anything to go by, we won’t be seeing the First Lady pursue a political career of her own.

“She will never run for office,” President Obama said during a radio interview on Sway in the Morning.

“She is as talented and brilliant a person as there is, and I could not be prouder of her, but Michelle does not have the patience or the inclination to actually be a candidate herself. And that’s one thing y’all can take to the bank.”
