A MAN had his nose ripped off in a vicious attack by his neighbour's pit bulls outside his own front door.

Marcus Kizaza at first thought the dogs were being "friendly" as they leapt up at him on his driveway.

Doorbell camera footage shows the two dogs wagging their tails as Marcus arrives home and greets them with pats on the head.

His daughter - who was watching from inside - is heard in the video saying: “Hi, dog. Aw, he’s so cute.”

But suddenly they turned on him in a frenzied attack in Fort Worth, Texas.

Marcus ran down the street screaming as they mauled his face, legs and hand.

Eventually he jumped on another neighbour's pickup truck to escape, .

“He was yelling really loud and the dogs were really vicious," said witness Bianca Mireles.

"We realised that there was part of his nose under our car.”

She called 911 and recorded the aftermath of the attack.

Her video shows the dogs still prowling around the pickup as paramedics began treating injured Marcus on the roof.

One dog is also seen lunging at a firefighter, who fends it off with a pole.

Bianca added: “The dogs were just trying to attack whoever was around.

"So, if you were on the ground, they were going to attack you.”

A police officer rammed one of the dogs with his patrol car and killed it.

The other was captured by animal control officers.

Bianca said: “I just saw afterward them taking the (dead) dog away in a big red bag and then them spraying the ground with water.

“We'd like to know who they belong to and hopefully, you know, they can face charges.”

Marcus spent more than a week in hospital after the attack on February 16, and is still recovering from his painful injuries at home.

He says he is too embarrassed to go out without a face mask.

Marcus told the local station: “I can't speak a lot.

“I don't just want people to just see this, you know?”

A third operation is scheduled next week.

Meanwhile he has been unable to work, so his family started to help with living costs and medical bills of $30,000.

Wife Leslie said the family is desperately trying to makle ends meet.

She said: "We still have the mortgage to pay. We still have kids to feed. So, that's why I need to know where is the dog's owner."

Fort Worth police said it issued two citations for unrestrained dogs to the owner.

But family attorney Cole McNeal is pushing for police to file criminal charges, which could be followed by a civil lawsuit.

He added: “Marcus and his family have set up a GoFundMe, and we're working on trying to spread that just to assist the family with medical bills, expenses.

“The family's not working. They've incurred a lot of medical bills.”
