"Either Obamacare will be amended, or repealed and replaced. I told him I will look at his suggestions, and out of respect, I will do that", he told the paper.

He said regulations banning insurers from refusing cover for people with pre-existing conditions was positive.

In his victory speech he said the country owed a "huge debt of gratitude" to his rival Hillary Clinton while through the campaign he called for her to be jailed.

Trump also said he had "great respect" for Obama after their first meeting, which both men described as positive.
