Schoolboy pedestrian, 12, dies after being hit by a van as man, 67, arrested for ‘causing death by careless driving’
A SCHOOLBOY pedestrian has died after being hit by a van.
It's understood the 12-year-old was walking when the white Iveco collided with him in Redruth, Cornwall.
He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene on Monday.
The young boy's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist family liaison officers.
A man, 67, has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention.
The pensioner was also arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit.

He remains in police custody.
Cops were called around 3.35pm to the A3047 Agar Road junction with Wilson Way.
The force are now appealing for witnesses.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Officers are calling for any witnesses or anyone who has any information or dashcam footage that could help with enquiries, to come forward.

"There will also be a pop-up police surgery held at Morrison’s car park on Agar Road between 1pm and 2pm today, Tuesday 14 March for members of the community and or witnesses to speak to officers."
The road was reopened around 1am on Tuesday.
