Melania Trump reveals she tells off hubby Donald for his Twitter rants but admits he doesn’t always listen in first interview as first lady in waiting
The soon-to-be First Lady says she struggles to control her businessman husband who beat Hillary Clinton to the White House last week
MELANIA Trump admits she regularly tells off her outspoken husband Donald over his use of Twitter.
The President-elect courted controversy during his bid for the White House with a series of online rants.
And in an interview with CBS' 60 Minutes Show his Slovenian wife confessed to taking him to task over his use of social media.
Asked about his Twitter account Melania, 46, said: "Well, sometimes he - it got him in trouble. But it helped a lot as well."
And asked whether she ever intervened, the former model added: "I tell him all the time.
"I think he hears me. But he will do what he wants to do in the end.
"He's an adult. He knows the consequences. And I give him my opinion. And he could do whatever he likes with it."
Trump is believed to have relinquished control of his Twitter to his campaign team in the weeks leading up to the election.
That point was seized upon by outgoing President Barack Obama who poked fun at Trump.
He said: "If somebody starts tweeting at three in the morning because Saturday Night Live made fun of you, then you can't handle the nuclear codes."
But Trump had the last laugh after beating Democrat Hillary Clinton to the White House last week.
In a wide-ranging interview, he discussed that first meeting with Obama on Thursday, putting aside months of personal insults between the pair.
He insisted the 90-minute meeting was productive and praised Obama's "great sense of humour".
Trump said: "I mean it was - just - in fact, it was almost hard breaking it up because we had so many things to say."
And he told me - the good things and the bad things, there are things that are tough right now.
"We never discussed what was said about each other.
"And that's strange. I'm actually surprised to tell you that. It's - you know, a little bit strange."
The President-elect also insisted he was prepared to deport up to three million illegal immigrants while maintaining he would build a wall along the border with Mexico.
Trump added that his Supreme Court appointments could see pro-life judges allow a ban on abortion in some states.
