Ukip's interim leader said "let's see what happens" when he was asked whether he would ever return to the Conservatives

NIGEL FARAGE has hinted at a return to the Conservatives – after spending the past week trashing PM Theresa May.

The loudmouth Ukip leader said “let’s see what happens” when asked if he would ever contemplate a return to the party he quit in 1992 over the Maastricht Treaty.

He is due to step down as Ukip boss later this month once a permanent new leader is elected to replace Diane James – who only lasted 18 days in the job.

In an interview with Sky, Mr Farage was asked: “You’re interim party leader, you’re on the way out of the Ukip, would you like to rejoin the Conservative party?”
He replied: “Let’s see what happens.”

He separately said he was “astonished” by Downing Street’s outright refusal to consider his offer to act as a go-between with President Elect Donald Trump following his astonishing meeting with the Republican at the weekend.
