Urgent hunt for little girl seen wandering Torquay streets alone before knocking on door & saying ‘I’m lost’

POLICE are urgently searching for a young girl spotted walking along a street on her own before telling someone "I'm lost".

Officers rushed to the Hele area of Torquay around 11am on Wednesday after the child, possibly six-years-old, knocked on a property.

She is thought to have told the occupant that she was lost before running away.

The child is described as a white female with long blonde hair tied up in pig tails.

She was of skinny build and was wearing a black coat.

A Police spokesperson said: “Our primary objective is to identify and find this little girl so that we can check her safety and welfare.

"Officers have been carrying out house-to-house enquiries in efforts to identify her and searches are ongoing to find her.

“The girl didn’t present as being in distress or upset and was last seen running in the direction of Farm Foods at around 11am.

“We have released a CCTV picture of her in hopes that someone might recognise her and let us know who she is.”

Anyone who recognises the girl in the image or has any information which may assist police is asked to call 999 quoting log 227 of 5 April.
