Jason Hughes was driving his electric-powered Tesla on Highway 10 near Hickory when he felt the car speed up suddenly.

He caught the silver Toyota Prius in his rear view mirror and quickly slammed his foot down on the accelerator — but noticed the car was already speeding up.
