Lightning strike dramatically sets house on fire as dangerous weather continues to sweep across Britain
Four fire engines rushed to the home as the grey smoke billowed into the sky
A LIGHTNING strike has set a house on fire in dramatic scenes that saw grey smoke billow into the sky.
Flames quickly took hold of the house, tearing through the building and burning through its roof.
Four fire crews rushed to the site to tackle the huge blaze that ripped through the semi-detached home.
Jennie Griffiths, Head of Joint Fire Control for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, tweeted that "good firefighting progress" was being made by the crews.
She added that crews had requested a water bowser to fight the flames.
Crews from South Wales Emergency Response also attended the scene.
The fire, which broke out at Llandow, Vale of Glamorgan, began just before 4pm on Friday and was eventually extinguished about 6.20pm.
No one was hurt in the fire.
It is unclear how extensive the damage to the house was.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for ice valid until 10am.
