Woke university replaces word ‘woman’ in maternity & menopause guidelines

A WOKE uni has replaced the word “woman” in maternity and menopause guidelines — and instead refers to an “expectant parent” or “pregnant person”.

Campaigners yesterday accused the University of the Arts London, which gets millions in public funding, of putting ideology “above scientific fact”.

Its staff guidance says: “Expectant parents may be of any gender including trans, non-binary, agender, gender nonconforming, genderqueer and gender fluid individuals.”

Its menopause policies add: “UAL recognise that menopause may also be experienced by colleagues who do not identify as female.”

The PC move was revealed in the Policy Exchange think tank’s Biology Matters newsletter.

Research Fellow Lottie Moore said: “The removal of language relating to female biology is yet another example of where gender identity beliefs are taking precedence above all else — including scientific fact.”

Tory MP Miriam Cates told The Sun: “Everyone knows that only women experience the menopause and only women can become mothers. For the University of the Arts London to pretend otherwise just discredits them as an educational institution.”

UAL, made up of six colleges in the capital with 19,000 students — said: “The language used accurately reflects the inclusive nature of the policy which applies to all new parents at UAL.”
