GONE IN 60 SECONDS

Vine-like ‘prank’ video will crash your iPhone within one minute by exposing Apple bug

The video, from the video-sharing app Miaopai, crashes the Apple phones which are using iOS 5 onwards

A THREE-SECOND video is circulating online which can crash iPhones within 60 seconds.

The video, from Chinese Vine-like app Miaopai, plays as normal and upon completion returns the user to their home screen.

But that’s when things get strange.

Users then begin to experience an intense slowing down of their phone’s basic functions, and after roughly one minute users are forced to reboot their phones.

It is not clear how the video has such a dramatic impact on the iPhones, however it does impact all iPhone 4 to 7 handsets using iOS 5 onwards.

The impact the video has on the phone is not long term, however.

Upon carrying out a soft reset, handsets appear to function normally.

Experts are yet to determine what triggers the crash, however many suspect that the video interferes with the iPhone’s media handling functions.

The sudden shutdown of phones does not seem to be limited to any specific part of the world but is affecting those phones with a specific serial number.

Apple has not said what the serial number includes, but it has confirmed that it is the phones that were manufactured between September and October 2015.

It is not a safety issue, and Apple is offering services to customers affected.
