Superman’s brother takes control of elite unit of Royal Marines commandos established by James Bond author Sir Ian Fleming

SUPERMAN’S brother has taken command of an elite unit of Royal Marines.
Lieutenant Colonel Nik Cavill MBE — brother of Hollywood Man of Steel Henry — now leads 30 Commando Information Exploitation Group.
The shadowy unit can trace its history to World War Two when it was established in part by James Bond author Ian Fleming.
The elite group, known as 30 Commando IX Group, conducts reconnaissance spy missions behind enemy lines and uses electronic warfare to confuse the other side and sap morale.
An insider said: “They may not boast the most potent superpowers in the universe but Lt Col Nik and his troops are real life Men of Steel.
“In the real world there’s no one better for the job of operating behind enemy lines than the Royal Marines. These guys don’t need capes.
“Lt Col Nik has already proven himself to be a supreme leader of men and is already heading his new unit with distinction.”
The Sun understands Afghan veteran Nik took control of the crack unit this autumn.
His younger brother Henry, 33, has starred as the Man of Steel twice, most recently in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, as well as a host of other blockbusters.
Naval intelligence officer Fleming was a key figure in establishing the unit after recognising the need to deploy behind enemy lines to capture intelligence.
He went on to create the greatest fictional spy of all time, Commander Bond, known as 007.
Now it is an “information warfare unit” aiding the Royal Marines of 3 Commando Brigade.
They can also help manipulate the propaganda war and ensure Brigade HQ at Stonehouse Barracks, Plymouth, can communicate round the world.
Henry has already proved a big supporter of the Royal Marines and wider Armed Forces.
He attended The Sun Military Awards this year.
The star has also taken part in a series of fundraisers for The Royal Marines Charity, for which he is an ambassador.
Brother Nik joined the Marines in 1999 and conducted three tours of Afghanistan.
