‘Beautiful’ girl, 16, found dead in sea as family pay tribute to their ‘treasured child loved by so many’
TRIBUTES are pouring in for a "beautiful" teenager who was found dead in the sea at the weekend.
Freya Carley, 16, was pulled from the ocean in Saltburn on Sunday afternoon.
An onlooker was said to have spotted her in the sea, seeing emergency services scramble to the North Yorkshire beach's sandy shores.
Tragically Freya was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her family have now paid tribute to their "treasured child".
They said in a statement: "We are truly devastated to announce the passing of our beautiful daughter Freya 'Boo'.

"It is not possible to describe the pain and loss that we as a family feel. We take so much comfort in knowing how loved Freya was by so many.
"We will never overcome the loss of our treasured child but we will strive to carry her memory forward and celebrate Freya as life continues for us.
"We love and miss you Boo but we know you are always with us in our hearts, we will never truly lose you."
Police are said to be still investigating the circumstances around her death.

Cops said at the time: "Police were called to Saltburn beach earlier this afternoon by ambulance service colleagues who were responding to a report of a body in the water.
"Sadly the body of a female was recovered from the sea shortly afterwards.
"Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased person at this very difficult time."
